Durham Cricket Lead High Performance Coach James Franklin has named a 14 man squad for Sunday’s LV= Insurance County Championship match against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road [10:30am start]
Durham go into tomorrow’s game in second place in the Division 2 table following this weeks win over Glamorgan at Emirates Riverside where Durham claimed 24 points from the match and currently sit on 14.5 points.
Northamptonshire also won this week in a thriller against Surrey at Wantage Road winning by 2 wickets chasing down 322. They are placed in third position with 13.67 points based on average points.
Chris Rushworth secured another milestone this week when he claimed his 50th County Championship wicket of the season and is now 8 behind Luke Fletcher who is the countries leading wicket taker with 59 scalps.
David Bedingham was pipped in becoming the first batsman to reach 1000 County Championship runs as Sussex’ Tom Haines scored 156 and 87 against Middlesex this week. The race to become the countries leading run scorer is on still on as we approach the final two games of the season.
Sean Dickson is unfortunately not available for this weeks game having picked up an injury when batting against Glamorgan with Stuart Poynter and Jack Campbell joining up with the squad which was named to take on Glamorgan.
Squad vs Northamptonshire (12-15 September)

Words from Scott Borthwick
Durham’s Scott Borthwick said: “It was a fantastic team performance right from the start of the game against Glamorgan. I thought the way that we bowled in the first innings was incredible and I thought the batting performance was amazing. The only downside for the batting performance was that no one went on to get a three-figure score. The most impressive thing is that we kept the partnerships going all the way through the innings.
“We recognised the importance of first-innings runs and we managed to all but kill the game by getting 400 runs ahead. It was a fantastic win, and I was pleased with the way we bowled on Tuesday on a good pitch in tough conditions. It is not often you say that in Durham, a good pitch and hot conditions. Through that we earned the right to finish off the game early on Wednesday morning.
We now look forward to Sunday’s game against Northamptonshire where hopefully we can perform well and come away with a positive result come Wednesday.”
