Durham Cricket Board Association of Cricket Officials (ACO) are set to introduce 60 people to scoring this winter – 400% more than last year.
The ACO have seen an impressive increase in sign-ups to their introductory scoring courses, with two fully booked up training days.
The two introductory courses, the first one of which is taking place this Sunday, 20 January, will see more candidates being trained in Durham than ever before.
Durham ACO have been successful in recruiting more umpires too, with their introductory umpiring course last October also being booked up.
Durham ACO Scoring Officer Sam Blacklock said: “As an association we are absolutely delighted with this year’s take up for our Introduction to Scoring courses.
“We didn’t expect to fill one course never mind two. In 2018 we only had 12 people attending our introduction to scoring course, so to have 60 this year is just fantastic.
“The aim would be for all these people to push onto the club scorer course and begin their scoring pathway with Durham ACO.
“Myself and the tutor team look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday and in February for the second course.”
