A strong team consisting of present & former players has been named for Saturday’s Durham Cricket XI vs Sir Ian Botham Raby Castle XI as part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour.
Captained by Cameron Steel, the Durham XI contains no fewer than eight current players with ex-players Callum Thorp & Ash Thorpe also set to appear.
They take on Sir Ian’s XI made up of players from Richmond, Raby Castle, Evenwood & Barton cricket clubs.
The match is set to commence at 1:30pm & will be played under the 100-ball format on the cricket ground within the grounds of Raby Castle.
The event is taking place to celebrate the Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour arriving at Raby, with the trophy available for pictures throughout the afternoon. A number of family activities, including inflatables from Durham’s Liontrust Family Zone, will be open to play on & catering facilities on site.

Sir Ian Botham said: “We are delighted to be hosting Cricket World Cup games in Durham this summer. Tickets are almost sold out, so the region is clearly looking forward to seeing some World Class international cricket.
“It all starts with the World Cup Trophy visiting the region this weekend and I’m excited to be managing a team at Raby Castle and meeting the fans and families who come to watch.”
