Prior to their visit to the Palace the players visited The Lord’s Taverners head quarters at Buckingham Place for a lunch reception where Paul Collingwood was presented with the ECB Lord’s Taverners Trophy by the current President of The Lord’s Taverners, Chris Cowdrey, with ECB and LV= representatives present.
Durham CCC Captain, Paul Collingwood said “It’s a tremendous honour to be invited to the Lord’s Taverners and Buckingham Palace, certainly not something you do every day. It’s a good opportunity to get back together with a few of the players and coaches to receive our medals and a great way to top off a tremendous season. Winning the trophy at Emirates Durham ICG was one of my career highlights, but there is something really special about meeting HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. A real day to remember and I’m sure speaking on behalf of everyone at Club a real day to be proud.”
