The ECB’s new cricket tournament the “Hundred” will launch next summer and ahead of the new tournament, a men’s player draft will take place this coming Sunday [20 October] to confirm squads for all teams.
The draft will be aired live on TV and BCC iPlayer this Sunday evening at 7pm, as the squads are confirmed for all eight city teams.
Sunday’s draft will also be a chance to see some of the Durham squad in the mix as they look to be selected in next summer’s tournament.
Each head coach will select their team. They get only 100 seconds to decide on each player. An independently adjudicated pre-draft draw has determined the order of selection:
- Trent Rockets
- Southern Brave
- Northern Superchargers
- Welsh Fire
- Oval Invincibles
- Manchester Originals
- London Spirit
- Birmingham Phoenix
There will be seven rounds to complete each squad. Head coaches will select two players in each round. The Hundred Draft will follow the selection order. Mid-round the selection order will reverse. Where a ‘Local Icon player’ has already been chosen, the team skip that turn.
Teams are permitted up to sign a maximum of three overseas players. 96 of the world’s best cricketers will be chosen from a nearly 600-strong pool.
New signings for each of the eight women’s teams will also be revealed live on Sunday.
