“It was pleasing to pick up the wickets I got, but the credit really has to go to the batsman. I thought they played superbly, Will Smith and Dale Benkenstein on the first day and then Ian Blackwell and Phil Mustard after that. They got us into a winning position”, said Thorp.
“The pitch is slow, but there is a little bit there if you get it in the right areas and are patient, which we have been. It is seaming around a little bit and that is enough to keep you interested as a bowler.
“I think we saw the pressure a big score can put a team under. They’d spent a day and a half in the field and their legs were probably heavy. Those sorts of things happen when one team has put big runs on the board.
“I probably didn’t do as many good things at Worcester as I have done here so I probably didn’t deserve the wickets. I’ve bowled well here and got my reward. I’m happy with that.
“There is a bit of rain around apparently tomorrow, but the cloud cover might help us if it’s still warm. As long as we don’t get too much rain, we’ll be fine.”
“We’re going pretty well at the moment and there is some momentum building. There was maybe a bit of a hangover from last year at the start of the campaign, but we’ve got some young guys in the dressing room and they are bringing fresh enthusiasm to us old guys.
“We’ve definitely got to be considered title contenders, we are playing some really good stuff at the moment and it has been a tremendous two days for us against Warwickshire.
