All three Durham batsmen registered three figures as they hammered Northants by 115 runs in a 2nd XI Trophy encounter at Emirates Riverside.

Phil Mustard and trialist Nick Hobson put on a mammoth opening stand of 189 en route to the former’s century.

Having started conservatively, Mustard kicked on and soon started to launch the sixes and ended up with three alongside nine fours.

He fell shortly after reaching his three figures, caught off Gamble, but his wicket merely brought about MacLeod’s fine attacking knock.

The Scot soon went on the offensive after Hobson had brought up his own century.

Eleven fours and three sixes later, MacLeod had pummelled the Northants attack into submission and finished on 105* off 68 deliveries.

Northants needed their reply to get off to a flier but lost opener Adair in Jamie Harrison’s second over.

A 50 partnership ensued for the second wicket but the visitors then lost 4/35 as spinners Gurman Randhawa and Ryan Pringle took two wickets each.

David Murphy and Sharif combined for another 50 partnership before George Harding removed the latter for a run of three wickets.

Murphy continued to make 91, including five maximums, but ran out of partners as MacLeod finished with the final two wickets.
