Liam Trevaskis starred for Durham 2nd XI in a rain-affected victory against Northumberland at Allendale. The left-hander shone with both bat and ball, scoring 59 runs and claiming three wickets in a 16 run victory on dls.
After winning the toss and selecting to bat, Durham 2nd XI found themselves in hot water at Allendale after losing two wickets in the first five balls without scoring. Ross Whitfield and Harry Crawshaw both fell victim to Cameron Nichols early on.
Nichols then went on to dismiss Johnny Bushnell and Luke Doneathy to leave Durham 25 for four inside five overs as he took figures of four for 22.
Durham’s recovery was led by Liam Trevaskis who enjoyed a partnership of 45 alongside Tom Mackintosh, before the wicketkeeper-batter fell for 23. Trevaskis was the next batter to depart after making Durham’s standout knock of 59 from 40 deliveries, scoring eight boundaries- six fours and two sixes, leaving Durham 2nd XI 110 for six.
Amaan Ul-Haq went on to claim Northumberland’s final two wickets, as he took three for 31 restricting Durham 2nd XI to 123 for 8.
In reply, Trevaskis picked up the wickets of John Oswell and Bobby Green in the second over as Northumberland found themselves six for two. Alasdair Appleby top scored for Northumberland with a lively 32 featuring four sixes before he too was dismissed by Trevaskis.
Stanley McAlindon then reduced Northumberland to 40 for four as he dismissed Shab Raheem first ball. The powerplay ended on a positive note for Durham 2nd XI as Oliver Gibson bowled a wicket maiden, dismissing Ben Robinson for five.
Upon the end of the powerplay, Northumberland were 40 for five as the rain forced a result despite just 26 overs having been played in the game. Durham 2nd XI were victorious by 16 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method.
