Summer has arrived, the sun is shining, and the school holidays are well and truly on their way. That means only one thing; Vitality T20 Blast cricket will soon be back at Emirates Riverside and we are looking forward to seeing some explosive cricket returning to Chester-le-Street.
The 2019 Vitality Blast season gets underway with a home fixture against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Friday 19 July and under-19s go free ahead of our season opener.
Kids from across the region will be pulling their school uniforms off for the last time this term, so why not bring your children and grandchildren along for what should be a thrilling game of T20 cricket.
D’Arcy Short will make his Durham debut, which means one thing, the leading run scorer in last winter’s Big Bash league will sure be on top form, hitting boundaries galore.
James Franklin’s men will be looking to progress from the North group into the quarter finals and the opening game of the season will be the perfect chance to see the squad in action.
Under-19s might go free, but parents are also entitled to discounted tickets when coming along to the game. For parents wanting to visit and enjoy your night in the sun, you can purchase a ticket for just £15.
Following the conclusion of the game, Durham players will also be on the field for pictures and autographs, which is a perfect chance for you to meet your favourite Durham player and maybe even grab a quick a selfie!

The club’s Liontrust Family Zone which was launched last summer, will also be back out in full swing, which will see the return of our catching zone, batting simulator, speed cage.
Durham Cricket, Group Sales Manager, Matty Wilson is excited to be welcoming hundreds of youngsters from around the region to the Emirates Riverside for the Northamptonshire encounter he said: “I’m really excited to welcome youngsters from the region to Emirates Riverside, whether they are regulars at the ground or new to the sport.
“We always have a great atmosphere at our T20 fixtures and that is in no small part down to the enthusiasm of youth!
“I am confident that anyone who attends will have a great time so by offering free entry to the first game, it really allows us to show off what we have to offer and hopefully that helps us generate the next generation of Durham Cricket fans.
“We have won multiple awards for our family friendly approach to cricket and we want as many kids as possible to benefit from that.
“Aside from the action on the field, there is plenty for all the family to enjoy around the ground on T20 fixture day – we have our LionTrust Family Zone open every game and that has been massively popular since we introduced it three years ago.”
