Durham host Yorkshire Vikings tonight in the penultimate home T20 game of the season and Lead High Performance Coach James Franklin has named a 13-man squad for the derby fixture.
Peter Handscomb will lead the team out as captain and wicket-keeper while Harry Adair and James Weighell are named in the T20 squad for the first time this summer.
Durham go into tonight’s fixture on the back of a washout against the Vikings last Friday at Headingley which saw the entire Blast programme washed out. Durham now sit in fifth place in the Vitality Blast North Group, two points behind Worcestershire Rapids who are in second place.
There are now just three games left in the Vitality Blast, making the Yorkshire Vikings encounter a crucial game if Durham are to progress into the knockout stages and reach the quarter finals.
D’Arcy Short and Scott Steel are currently in the top ten batting statistics for the Vitality Blast, Short with 368 runs with an average of 46 while Steel has hit 270 runs at an average of 34.37.
Matthew Potts sits in joint tenth place with 13 wickets throughout the tournament so far, alongside Nottinghamshire’s Harry Gurney.
Yorkshire have only won once this summer in the Blast with a 54-run victory over Leicestershire Foxes at the Fischer County Ground and currently sit bottom of the North Group, going into the final three games of the Blast.
The match also marks Chris Rushworth’s testimonial game and there will be a number of events across the evening to commemorate this.
