Whitburn Church of England Academy win Lady Taverners U13 Trophy

Whitburn Church of England Academy won the Lady Taverners Under-13 Indoor Competition in Durham and qualified for the Regional Finals in April.

Whitburn’s girls secured Durham’s trophy after chasing down High Tunstall College of Science’s total with 4.5 overs to spare.

Whitburn won the toss and elected to field first. High Tunstall reached 53-4 in their eight overs, with Molly top-scoring 11 not out.

In response, Whitburn reached the target in 3.5 overs with Isabelle, Trudy and Isla all retiring on 15 runs each.

The Lady Taverners Indoor Schools Cricket competitions are held annually and provide more opportunities for girls to play and compete. In Durham, the competitions are organised and delivered by Durham Cricket Board and 23 schools took part this year.

As Durham’s Lady Taverners Champions, Whitburn Church of England Academy will represent Durham Cricket Board at the North Regional Under-13 Lady Taverners Finals taking place at Bolton Arena, Bolton on Tuesday 30 April 2019.
