Will Rhodes signs three-year Durham deal

Durham Cricket are thrilled to announce the signing of Warwickshire batter Will Rhodes on a three-year contract.

The 29-year-old will join up with the squad following the conclusion of the 2024 season and will be available for Durham in both red and white ball cricket, until at least the end of the 2027 season.

A left-handed top-order batter, Rhodes will bring further experience to the Durham batting lineup having featured in over 100 first-class matches for Warwickshire, Yorkshire and Essex.

Having played in over 200 all format matches, Rhodes has 12 centuries to his name and more than 7000 career runs.

Rhodes most recently impressed with the bat in the County Championship with 201 against Kent, almost passing his first-class best of 207 scored against Worcestershire in 2020.

A handy right-arm seamer, Rhodes is closing in on 100 scalps in the red ball arena with a best of 5-17 coming against Essex in 2019.

A natural leader, Rhodes captained Warwickshire for four seasons between 2020 and 2023 and is one of only seven players to captain Warwickshire to County Championship success, lifting the title in 2021 along with the Bob Willis Trophy during the same summer.

The Nottingham-born batting all-rounder has a career best 113 in List A cricket along with a T20 best of 79* against Leicestershire Foxes.

On joining Durham, Rhodes said: “I am really excited to be joining Durham next season. I have heard nothing but good things about the Club from past and current players, so I am looking forward to getting up North in the winter and getting started with everyone.”

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “We’re delighted to have secured Will Rhodes at Durham. A player of his quality, character, and experience does not become available all that often, so we are obviously delighted to have secured Will Rhodes at Durham.

“Will’s skillset not only strengthens our team but will give us further versatility in both our County Championship and white ball sides.

“He is experiencing a very successful season personally and we are looking forward to seeing him continue to build on his strong career over the coming years in Chester le Street.”
