Wood set for Grantham return

England pace bowler Mark Wood returns to Durham’s squad for the Royal London One-Day Cup match against Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Grantham tomorrow (Friday 3 May).

The 29-year-old is in line to play his first match of the season as he looks to push his case for a place in England’s ICC Cricket World Cup XI.

He is one of three players added into the 14-man squad, with Ryan Pringle & Ned Eckersley also selected.

Graham Clark & James Weighell are omitted from the side who faced Lancashire in a narrow, final over defeat at South North on Tuesday.

There were a number of positives to take in defeat, not least the form of Alex Lees, who turned his fourth consecutive half-century into his first

With two games left, James Franklin’s side are in the thick of a tight race for qualification from the North Group.

Durham occupy the third & final qualification spot at the time of writing (before the conclusion of Thursday’s games), with no fewer than six sides still in the mix.

But a win in Lincolnshire would be a huge boost & draw Franklin’s side level with their opponents on ten points ahead of the closing match against Yorkshire at Headingley on Monday.

It is the second List A game to take place at Grantham after but the first involving Nottinghamshire, with the previous match coming between Lincolnshire & the Netherlands in the 2000 National Westminster Bank Trophy.

Squad vs Notts Outlaws

Cameron Bancroft (c, wk), Scott Steel, Alex Lees, Michael Richardson, Gareth Harte, Jack Burnham, Ned Eckersley, Liam Trevaskis, Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, Ben Raine, Ryan Pringle, Matt Salisbury, Mark Wood
