Nathan Sowter
Nathan Sowter joined Durham ahead of the 2023 season moving to the North East from Middlesex on a white ball only deal.
The 30-year-old joined Durham on a permanent deal having joined on loan from Middlesex midway through the 2022 Vitality Blast campaign.
Leg-spinner Sowter, spent 7 years at Middlesex becoming their third all-time leading wicket taker in white ball cricket making 93 appearances in limited overs cricket for the club.
While he also went onto make 13 First-class appearances for Seaxes.
Australian-born Sowter, came to the spotlight in 2015 when he picked up two wickets for two runs to win a NatWest T20 Blast match against Kent at Lord’s with the first four balls of his career. Since then he became a regular comportment of Middlesex’s Twenty20 attack before falling out of favour with the club in 2021.
Born in Penrith, Sowter represented New South Wales at Under-23 level before joining Middlesex. Playing for Normandy in the Surrey Premier League, due to his English mother Sowter qualified as a local player, claiming 99 wickets in two seasons for the Surrey club.
He made 7 T20 Blast appearances for Durham in 2022 picking up 8 wickets with a best of 3/22 on debut over Lancashire Lightning.
The Australian also stood out with his outstanding boundary catching taking two stunners against Notts Outlaws.
Sowter will be available for the Royal London Cup in 2023 depending on selection for the Hundred, having been part of the Oval Invincibles squad since 2020.
