Ollie Robinson
Durham Cricket were delighted to announce the signing of Ollie Robinson from Kent on a three-year deal ahead of the 2023 season – having played for Durham during the 2022 Vitality Blast campaign.
Since making his Kent debut in 2016 the 23-year-old has gone onto represent Kent in all formats playing a part in their 2021 Vitality Blast winning campaign, making 100 appearances for the county.
His breakthrough season came in 2019 as he scored 765 runs in 14 County Championship matches, with a first-class career best of 143 against Warwickshire.
He took 54 catches behind the stumps in 2019 which saw him top the ladder with the most in the country.
In the 2019 close season, Ollie was called up to the England Lions for their red ball winter tour of Australia. He made his Lions debut against a New South Wales XI, but didn’t bat, in a rain affected draw at North Dalton Park, in Wollongong – playing alongside new Durham team mate Brydon Carse.
Robinson passed 100 first-class dismissals during 2021’s County Championship, an achievement reached after taking his maiden stumping in senior red ball cricket for Kent.
He also made headlines with a superb run-out, reaching forward with both legs in the air and momentum taking him away from the stumps, against Gloucestershire in the 2021 Vitality Blast, a tournament that Kent went on to win.
Last August, Robinson hit Kent’s highest individual score in List A cricket as they chased down a 352 target with 5.1 overs to spare in their opening Royal London Cup encounter with Worcestershire Rapids at New Road.
A lofted cover drive for four against Josh Baker took Robinson to a double ton from 130 balls and was the cue for a standing ovation all around the ground and he ended on 206 not out.
Kent went on to reach the Royal London Cup final that season, where he scored 43 runs against Lancashire at Trent Bridge to help Kent lift the trophy for the first time since 1974.
