Paul Coughlin

Paul Coughlin put pen to paper on a new 2-year deal at Durham Cricket keeping him at Seat Unique Riverside until at least the end of the 2025 season.

A knee ligament injury restricted Coughlin to only 5 County Championship matches – going on to take 12 wickets throughout an injury ridden red ball campaign.

The Sunderland born cricketer did, however, score his maiden first-class century against Worcestershire sharing a record 8th wicket stand with Ben Raine.

Coughlin’s century came nurdling a single into the leg-side to reach his ton from 117 balls as he helped Durham declare on 642/7 their third-highest first-class total.

He played his part in the Vitality Blast with 12 wickets impressing in Durham’s opening game against Leicestershire Foxes in Leicester.

All-rounder, Coughlin, made 42 from 30 balls to help Durham post 184 for eight from their 20 overs after being asked to bat first before taking four for 15 as the home side were bowled out for 130.

Leicestershire made a horrible start to their reply. Rutherford lost his middle stump first ball to an inswinger by Coughlin, who had Lewis Hill caught at third man in the same over before Lilley holed out to deep midwicket in his second, as he picked up his best of the term with 4/15.

Having recovered from injury playing the majority of the One Day Cup and end of the Championship season, Paul will be looking for a positive pre-season ready to hit the ground running in 2023.
